DANCE AND DRAMA WEEK

8 – 16 years
8 – 16 year olds are invited to explore stagecraft, acting and ballet dancing during this action-packed play in a week, based on Noel Streatfield’s Ballet Shoes.
Pirouette back to the 1930s stage school with the opportunity to work with former ballerina, Ali Maxwell and theatre practitioner, Emily Scates.
Weds 4th April, 10am – 4pm
BOYS’ DANCE DAY
For 7 – 11 years
This workshop is designed especially for boys, providing them with the rare opportunity to dance with other boys and explore contemporary and urban dance techniques. Led by a male dancer, the workshops are suitable for all levels of experience. The day culminates in a demonstration on our stage at 3.45pm of the skills learned.
Tickets: £30. Bring lunch. Wear comfortable clothes and suitable shoes for an active workshop.
Thurs 5th April, 10am – 1pm
5 – 7 Years
For those with little feet that just can’t help but move, this will be a high energy, fun workshop covering a variety of dance styles. The morning culminates in a ‘sharing’ on our stage at 12.45pm.

Mon 9th and Tues 10th April, 10am – 1pm
PLAY IN TWO DAYS
For 5 – 7 years
Participants will engage in drama games, storytelling and improvisations and then create their own version of a traditional tale to show to their families on our stage at 12.45pm on Tuesday.

Mom 9th and Tues 10th April, 10am – 4pm
PLAY IN TWO DAYS
For 8 – 12 years
During our popular Play in Two Days, participants will join in fun drama games and activities, enjoy improvisations and then create some ideas for their play which will be performed on our professional stage to an audience of family and friends at 3.45pm on Thursday.

Weds 11th April, 10.30 – 1.30pm
STOMP-STYLE BODY PERCUSSION
Stomping, clapping and everything in between – this dynamic, high-energy session will explore the use of the body as a percussive instrument. Participants will learn traditional and contemporary rhythms and will then be given tools to compose and perform their own ideas. Ollie Tunmer, ex-STOMP, will provide a session that is highly interactive, totally unique and great fun! There will be a ‘sharing’ at 1.15pm.
